It’s always exciting to photograph newborn sessions. It’s such a privelage to capture what’s no doubt one of the most special times in a family (even if it can be often chaotic, crazy and hazy for the parents!). But that’s also why these images are so special – once the kids grow up they become the memories we cherish, and that the kids themselves will love to look back on when they’re older.
These sessions are even more exciting when the parents are former wedding couples I already know and love, and Elaine and Jack definitely fit into this category. These two honestly feel more like friends than clients, and every time we catch up I just feel so much warmth towards them, and from them. If I didn’t already love my job, they would make me love it 🙂
Recently Elaine and Jack welcomed adorable baby Alexander into their family. And he was perfection during his shoot, as you’ll see below. He wasn’t camera shy either (pick the picture where he didn’t want to look away from the lens!).
Are you expecting soon? It’s often hard to think about newborn photos when you’re in the thick of changing nappies, night feeds and to be honest probably feeling like crap most days, lucky to have time to go to the toilet yourself! But try to squeeze in a shoot if you can – newborn portraits are best photographed in the first two weeks (but can be done later if necessary) and you will be so happy you made time for them once you see your images! It’s a time in your life you can never get back …
